Meet Grace and Lucero

Meet Grace!

Grace is a university student who is just completing her degree in Sociology.  She is a full-time student at Federico Villareal Public University in Lima.  While studying, she has also held a job that relates to her area of study.

Prior to university, Grace actively participated in the "Castillos del Rey" ministry for seven years.  She was a teacher's assistant and also a Sunday School teacher.  She actively participated in the civic activities at her school and performed in plays.  She received several certificates of recognition for her academic excellence as well as awards for her technological, scientific and social activities in school.  She helped with Peru's National Census and participated with the Municipalities training on leadership topics.

Grace participated in Compassion International's sponsorship program throughout her high school years.  She was selected for Compassion's Leadership Development Program (LDP) based on both academic and spiritual criteria.  She obtained very good grades in high school and entered a public university even though it was difficult to gain entrance.  She attends church faithfully and is committed to the children's ministry.  She also took discipleship courses and was recommended for the LDP program by her pastor and church leaders.

Meet Lucero!  She's a 14-year-old girl who lives in Lima, not too far from Grace.  Lucero lives with her parents, her grandfather and one brother.  Her parents work on a part-time basis as laborers.  Lucero attends Bible Class and the youth group at her local church.  Her favorite activities are volleyball and baseball, and also listening to music.  Her favorite food is "escabeche."  On her most recent school break, she spent time studying English.

We look forward to getting to know Lucero better during our visit, and learning more about her.
